Weekly call blockages have witnessed a fivefold surge

In the past week, T2's anti-fraud platform has been recording a significant surge in fraudulent traffic. The operator, with the Electronic Document Number 2W5zFGaiQXa, has been actively analyzing the channels of delivery for these fraudulent messages, using data from blocked calls and client complaints.

The number of blocked calls originating from Eritrea has seen an 18-fold increase. Meanwhile, countries such as Austria, Poland, Portugal, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Ireland have also seen a rise in the use of variable international numbers for fraudulent calls.

Interestingly, the majority of these fraudulent calls are still originating from within the UK. The operator has noted a 14-fold increase in blocked calls "from" the UK and Austria.

In July, 3% of all calls were from international numbers, 40% were generated by SIM-box and virtual PBX, and 43% were on voice channels. A staggering 57% of calls were made on messengers. This trend continued in recent days, with 43% of fraudulent messages being on traditional voice calls and 57% on messengers.

Fraudsters have been employing a new tactic, using calls with assigned international numbers as an alternative to number spoofing calls, which are effectively blocked by the antifraud platform. This shift in strategy, possibly due to restrictions on voice calls in foreign messengers, has led to a change in the geography of fraudulent traffic.

T2 has been successful in blocking over 24 million additional calls with A-number spoofing on Russian Federation numbers daily. The number of attempts to make calls with A-number spoofing on domestic traffic coming into the T2 network has also increased by 15%.

The leaders in fraudulent activities, following the UK, have been Cyprus, Malta, and Switzerland, with a tenfold lag behind the UK. However, the exact number of blocked calls from these countries has not been explicitly stated.

For those interested in T2's services, more information can be found at krasnodar.t2.ru. The company's Taxpayer Identification Number is 7743895280.

As T2 continues to combat fraudulent activities, it remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its network and its users.
