Volkswagen Group's Electric Offensive: Four New Models Under €25,000 Coming Soon

Volkswagen Group has big plans for its electric vehicle lineup. The company is set to launch an electric offensive in the entry-level segment with four models under €25,000. This includes the VW ID.Polo, ID.Cross, Skoda Epiq, and Cupra Raval. All-wheel drive options are also being considered for some models.

Currently, the group does not offer an electric car below €25,000 in the compact segment. However, this is set to change with the 'Electric Urban Car Family' in 2026. The small MEB+ platform for compact electric cars is designed for front-wheel drive. To achieve all-wheel drive, an additional motor will be placed at the rear to drive the rear wheels.

The group is also considering all-wheel drive options for the mini SUVs VW ID.Cross and Skoda Epiq. Furthermore, all-wheel drive could be an option for the sporty top models GTI or R. The development of this technology for the VW ID.GTI and Skoda Epiq R is expected in the mid to late 2020s as part of the group's ongoing electric mobility advancements.

Volkswagen Group's electric offensive in the entry-level segment promises affordable, high-performance electric vehicles. The introduction of the 'Electric Urban Car Family' in 2026, along with potential all-wheel drive options, is set to make electric mobility more accessible and appealing to a wider range of customers.
