VinFast Electric SUVs Set to Arrive in India: A Comprehensive Overview
VinFast, the Vietnamese automaker, is making waves in the Indian market with its upcoming electric SUVs. The company's first dealership in Tamil Nadu, located in Surat, Gujarat, was recently inaugurated, marking a significant milestone.
The Surat showroom, spanning over 3,000 square feet, offers immersive product experiences, seamless vehicle purchase journeys, and after-sales support. It is the largest among the 35 outlets VinFast plans to open across 27 cities in India by the end of 2025.
Pre-bookings for two of its upcoming models, the VF 6 and VF 7, began on July 15. Let's take a closer look at these electric SUVs and what they have to offer.
VinFast VF7
Scheduled to launch in India alongside the VF6 in August 2025, the VF7 is equipped with a 70.8 kWh battery using LFP chemistry, designed specifically for Indian climate conditions. With a power output of up to 354 PS and 500 Nm, the VF7 promises impressive performance, capable of accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds (top AWD variant).
The VF7 boasts a range of approximately 431 km (WLTP) and features such as Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Hindi voice command via OTA updates. The VF7 measures 4,545 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,636 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. Priced around ₹60 lakh, the VF7 is a premium offering from VinFast.
VinFast VF6
The VF6 is set to follow the VF7, with a launch scheduled for August/September 2025. Powered by a single front motor, the VF6 delivers 201 PS and 310 Nm. With a range of 470 km (NEDC), the VF6 promises a smooth driving experience. The VF6 will be available in Earth and Wind trims with six color options.
The VF6 shares many safety and tech features with the VF7, including ADAS, multiple airbags, and a 360-degree camera. Priced between ₹30 - 45 Lakhs, the VF6 is expected to be a more affordable option compared to the VF7.
Other Upcoming Models
While the VF9, VF8, VF e34, and VF3 have not been confirmed for the Indian market yet, they are expected to join the lineup in due course. The VF9 is a large luxury family SUV with a range of up to 531 km (EPA estimated), while the VF8 is expected to slot between the VF7 and VF9 in size and positioning.
The VF3 is planned as an entry-level compact model, and the VF e34 is a more affordable option with a range of 318 km and a price point between ₹25 - 30 Lakhs.
Support Infrastructure and Sustainability
VinFast has signed agreements with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure for support infrastructure for charging and after-sales services. The company has also partnered with clean-tech firm BatX Energies to promote battery recycling and support the development of a circular battery value chain.
The Surat showroom was launched ahead of the inauguration of VinFast's first EV plant in India, signalling the company's commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices.
Customers can reserve their preferred electric SUVs either online or at the showroom for a refundable amount of ₹21,000. As VinFast continues to expand its presence in India, electric vehicle enthusiasts have much to look forward to.
