VinFast Expands to Tamil Nadu, Opens Showroom in Surat
VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has made its mark in India with the launch of its first showroom in Tamil Nadu. The showroom, operated by Maansarovar Motors, was inaugurated recently and is the latest addition to VinFast's growing network of dealerships.
The decision to establish a presence in Tamil Nadu was driven by the region's robust industrial base and infrastructure, as highlighted by Mr. Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia. This strategic move is part of VinFast's ambitious plan to open 35 outlets across 27 cities by the end of 2025.
The Surat showroom, spread across 3,000 square feet, offers immersive product experiences, seamless vehicle purchase journeys, and after-sales support. It will display VinFast's upcoming electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7.
The VF 6 is an entry-level five-seater compact electric SUV, equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery, delivering an estimated range of up to 440 km. It boasts a motor output of about 201 bhp and 310 Nm torque. The VF 7, on the other hand, is a mid-size five-seater electric SUV with a larger battery pack, offering over 450 km of range.
Regarding pricing, the VF 6 is expected to be priced between ₹18 lakh and ₹25 lakh, while the VF 7 is expected to be priced between ₹30 lakh and ₹50 lakh. Delivery of these models is anticipated to start soon after their public launch in August 2025, coinciding with the inauguration of VinFast’s manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, India.
In addition to the VF 6 and VF 7, VinFast has other upcoming electric SUVs in the pipeline. These include the VF9, with a 123 kwh battery and a range of 531 km, the VF8, with an 87.7 kWh battery and a range of 425 km, and the VF e34, with a 41.9 kWh battery and a range of 318 km.
VinFast's expansion in India also includes a partnership with Indian clean-tech startup BatX Energies for a battery recycling initiative as part of its sustainability strategy. This initiative is aimed at ensuring the responsible management of EV batteries and contributing to a greener future.
