In the bustling streets of the Philippines, a groundbreaking collaboration is underway to transform urban transportation. VinFast, V-Green, Green GSM, MERALCO, and their respective Philippine subsidiaries are joining forces to create a holistic electric mobility ecosystem. This ambitious project spans across electric vehicle (EV) distribution, charging infrastructure development, and electric taxi operations.

The partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aims to accelerate EV adoption in the Philippines. By developing EV infrastructure, deploying electric taxi services, and expanding public charging networks, the collaboration hopes to make green transportation accessible to all.

Key locations for charging stations and taxi hubs will be identified and co-developed, with a focus on solar-powered charging solutions. Technical expertise will be shared, and workforce training provided to support sustainable urban transportation. The main goals include promoting green transportation, creating a comprehensive EV ecosystem, and scaling EV adoption, particularly in Metro Manila and other major urban areas.

This endeavour aims to offer cost-effective, safer, and seamless mobility options while supporting the Philippines' transition to a cleaner, greener future. Expected benefits include an accelerated build-out of accessible, reliable EV charging infrastructure, the expansion of Green GSM's electric ride-hailing service to more cities, and the integration of renewable energy sources to power EV charging stations.

This cooperation aligns with V-Green and its Vietnamese partners' broader strategy to expand EV infrastructure throughout Southeast Asia, including the deployment of tens of thousands of charging ports.

Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of MERALCO, expressed his excitement, stating that the partnership brings together collective strength in infrastructure, technology, and experience to redefine cities and communities. Nguyen Thanh Duong, CEO of V-Green, shares this sentiment, believing the partnership will create meaningful change in the Philippines' urban transportation landscape.

Dao Quy Phi, CEO of Green GSM Philippines, emphasises the importance of robust infrastructure for public access to clean, safe, and environmentally friendly mobility. The partnership will explore opportunities to scale up EV adoption in major urban areas, ensuring a greener public transport system for all Filipino citizens.

This partnership marks a significant step towards a sustainable future for the Philippines, demonstrating the power of collaboration in driving positive change.

  1. The collaboration between VinFast, V-Green, Green GSM, MERALCO, and their Philippine subsidiaries extends beyond urban transportation, as they aim to integrate environmental-science principles into the development of a holistic and sustainable electric mobility ecosystem.
  2. In addition to promoting green technology in transportation, the partnership will also focus on the financial aspect, ensuring cost-effective solutions to encourage widespread EV adoption, with an emphasis on finance and business strategies.
  3. As part of their broader strategy, V-Green and its Vietnamese partners plan to leverage this partnership to expand not only EV infrastructure but also other forms of technology in Southeast Asia, specifically in the realm of industrial applications, such as renewable energy solutions and charging ports.
