Updated Guide for Apple iOS 26: Enhancements and Modifications Explored
The long-awaited iOS 26 update has started rolling out, bringing a host of new features and improvements to iPhone users. The update, which affects iPhone 11 and newer models (including SE 2nd gen and up) with Apple's A13 chip or newer, marks Apple's biggest visual overhaul since 2013 with the introduction of a "Liquid Glass" visual redesign.
The Liquid Glass redesign introduces translucent layers, depth, and motion throughout the UI, offering a fresh and modern look. One of the standout features is the Phone app's reworked layout, which now unifies Favorites, Recents, and Voicemail in one place, along with the introduction of Hold Assist.
Beyond the visual changes, the update also brings a series of quality-of-life improvements. For instance, CarPlay, Maps, Music, and Wallet have all received enhancements. Screenshots now recognize details and offer actions, such as adding to a calendar, while the new Preview-style experience on iPhone makes quick work of PDFs and image markups.
The update also includes Apple's most aggressive spam- and scam-blocking tools to date. For texts, users can turn on Screen Unknown Senders to funnel mystery numbers into a separate inbox. Spam calls can be silenced or quarantined into a separate list, and Call Screening can now ask unknown callers to state a reason before your phone rings.
Another significant addition is system-wide live translation, available in Phone, FaceTime, and Messages. This feature will undoubtedly prove useful for global communication.
In terms of child safety, Child Accounts now require permission before kids message new contacts, and FaceTime can automatically blur nudity. Apps on iPhone now have access to a user's age range for more appropriate content.
Group chats in Messages have also received an upgrade, with the addition of polls, custom backgrounds, and better group-typing indicators. Adaptive Power mode, which learns your usage and quietly trims power drain on heavy days, has been improved on newer models to auto-engage Low Power at 20%.
Lastly, the first iPhone model to support the iOS 26 update is the iPhone 11. With these exciting new features and improvements, iPhone users are in for a treat with the iOS 26 update.
