Updated functionality of Nintendo Switch 2: Seamless sharing of screenshots and videos through Switch app, bringing immense joy to players.

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will introduce an automatic file upload feature for player-captured screenshots and videos to the official Nintendo Switch app, offering a more expedient and streamlined approach to saving game-related media.

According to data miner OatmealDome, the Switch 2 will upload newly captured screenshots and videos to the app's "Album" feature, allowing for easy storage on users' mobile devices such as phones and tablets. This fresh feature eliminates the need for previous methods, such as manually transferring media via QR codes, a process prevalent with the original Switch.

The app can store up to 100 uploaded files at a time and retains them for up to 30 days from upload. If the maximum storage limit is exceeded, the oldest files will be automatically deleted to make space for the latest uploads. Users wishing to keep specific images or videos should save them before they expire from the app.

The process of uploading new files to the app is automatic once the Switch 2 is paired with the app, requiring no additional user input. This system shares similarities with the PlayStation app, as it also offers automatic storage for screenshots and footage from the PlayStation 5.

For Switch users, this new automatic upload feature will bring a welcomed convenience, addressing a longstanding issue of inconvenience in saving in-game media files. In the past, players were reliant on manually scanning QR codes to link their console with mobile devices for file transfers.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release next week on June 5, with a retail price of $449.99 / £395.99, and $499.99 / £429.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle, which includes a digital version of the game. Pre-orders for the console in the UK and the US are now available, with select retailers planning to restock Switch 2 units during the console's launch.
