Unveiled in secret: Porsche's 2027 Cayenne EV conquered a hill climb, breaking the record.

Fancy diving into the latest hot goss from the automotive world? Then listen up, because we've got the dirt on the electric Porsche Cayenne!

Last Sunday, ol' Porsche didn't just spill the beans about the upcoming electric Cayenne, it showed off what it's got by entering a prototype into the 2025 UK British Championship Hillclimb at Shelley Walsh. And let me tell ya, this bad boy didn't exactly keep a low profile. Decked out in a neon purple and blue "camo" wrap that screams "Look at me!", it was a sight for sore eyes. bonus points for the roof rack, eh?

Porsche slid this beast into the Road Cars Series Production Electric category and enlisted the help of Formula E factor test driver Gabriela Jilkova to pilot the electric SUV up the hill. You better believe those event announcers couldn't help but comment on how the EV rocketed off the line thanks to that sweet, sweet instant torque. It wasn't long before the prototype hit 60 feet in just 1.94 seconds.

And if you're wondering where all the action went down, you can check out the 2:36:42 mark in the video stream. Go ahead, give it a gander!

"For a big car that's scuttling up the hill, something special!" the announcers exclaimed, and you gotta agree. The prototype tore up the course in just 31.28 seconds, obliterating the SUV record at Shelsley Walsh by over four seconds.

Now, it's unclear if this prototype was a production-spec vehicle or not, but one thing's for sure, it's only a matter of time before Porsche starts talking about the upcoming EV.

So, what does this all mean for our beloved polluting Porsche Cayennes? Well, rumor has it that Porsche has backtracked on their initial plans for a fully electric lineup and will keep a gas-powered version alive past 2030.
