University Buzzing With Activity: Conferences, New Institute, and Major Projects
Our university is abuzz with activity this autumn. From thought-provoking conferences to innovative projects and new facilities, here's what's happening on campus.
The INTERXR project wraps up with a final conference on September 25th and 26th. Titled 'Immersive worlds, real education?', it promises technical presentations and virtual world experiences. Meanwhile, Prof. Fahim Mohammadi has taken the helm of the new Institute for Design Methodology and Representation, bringing his expertise from the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. He will lead the basics course in this area starting this month.
In scientific news, the HiPerCoRig is now on long-term loan to the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences. This high-performance coring rig, supported by our university, can obtain core samples at depths of up to 200 meters. Closer to home, the PVZ has opened a Parent-Child Office in Room 422 for childcare emergencies.
Mascha Pfeiffer, a student assistant in the Press and Communication Department, shared her experiences studying here and living in Braunschweig in the 'City, Country, Study' series on Spiegel-Online. This week also saw the first Summer School on 'Automotive Circular Economy', bringing together students to brainstorm sustainable car production ideas.
The COIN project, coordinated by our Leichtweiß Institute for Hydraulic Engineering, has received a significant boost. With 4 million euros from the Horizon Europe program, it will officially start on November 1st. This project involves nine leading organizations across Europe, working together to develop innovative solutions for future wave power plants.
The Central Personnel Development is gearing up for the annual conversation with an online information event on September 17th, introducing the 'Toolbox for Conversation Leadership'. The digital event series 'Impulse Bites' continues on September 16th with a lecture by Prof. Simone Kauffeld on meetings. Lastly, mark your calendars for the Day of Democracy celebration on September 15th from 11:55 AM on the University Square.
