The Jetour Shanhai L7 Plus, a new addition to the mid-size SUV market, is set to make its market entry in the second half of August. This plug-in hybrid vehicle is built on Chery's Kunlun super hybrid platform and boasts an advanced powertrain system.
The powertrain consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with a super continuously variable dedicated hybrid transmission, part of Chery’s Kunpeng plug-in hybrid system (C-DM). This combination delivers a combined output of around 115 kW (156 HP) from the engine and an electric motor.
The Shanhai L7 Plus is equipped with a battery capacity of around 26.7 kWh, supporting plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) functionality. This powerhouse offers an electric-only range of approximately 117 km and a combined range of up to 1200 km, depending on model and configuration.
The SUV's interior is designed with a dual-color theme and features a spacious cabin that can accommodate seven passengers. The central control screen is a 15.6-inch floating screen that can rotate 10° left or right, providing an intuitive and user-friendly interface.
Practicality is at the forefront with the Shanhai L7 Plus. It offers additional storage space under the center console, cupholders, wireless charging pads, 12 speakers, and even a refrigerator. The third-row seats can be folded down to convert into a five-seater layout, increasing cargo space when needed.
Safety is not compromised, with the SUV featuring front ventilated disc brakes and rear disc brakes, an electric parking brake system, and a 200mm ground clearance, approach angle of 28°, departure angle of 29°, ramp angle of 19°, and a maximum wading depth of 600 mm, indicating moderate off-road competency.
The Shanhai L7 Plus is also equipped with an AI voice assistant, automatic air conditioning, USB and Type-C ports both front and rear, voice wake-up recognition in two zones, keyless entry, and multiple driving modes such as Sport, Eco, and Standard/Comfort.
The exterior of the Shanhai L7 Plus features new headlight, taillight, and semi-hidden door handle designs compared to the Shanhai L7, giving it a modern and sleek look. The dimensions of the SUV are 4810/1930/1705 mm, with a wheelbase of 2820 mm, making it a mid-size SUV. The trunk volume can be expanded from 658 L to 1708 L by folding down the third-row seats.
All seats in the Shanhai L7 Plus are electrically adjustable, and the engine has a maximum power of 115 kW (154 hp), bringing the comprehensive system power to 265 kW (355 hp) and the torque to 530 Nm. The SUV is equipped with a three-spoke flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel.
On July 24, Chery's Jetour brand released the official images of the Shanhai L7 Plus plug-in hybrid SUV, marking the anticipation for its arrival. The official CLTC pure electric range for the Shanhai L7 Plus is 220 km and the comprehensive range is 1500 km. The Shanhai L7, its predecessor, has a price range of 129,800 to 159,800 yuan (18,500 to 22,800 USD).
