Ukraine Unveils New RK-360L Missile, Outpacing French MdCN

Ukraine has developed a new ground-launched ballistic missile, the RK-360L, which is now entering serial production. This missile carries a 400 kg warhead and has an operational range of approximately 1,000 kilometers. It has demonstrated characteristics on par with or above the French MdCN missile.

The RK-360L has a 260-kilogram warhead and has already seen combat use in Ukraine. Its targeting precision has been proven in strikes on Russian facilities deep inside Russia. This new missile joins Ukraine's existing long-range cruise missiles, including the Neptune and the simpler, rapid-deployment FP-5 Flamingo. Meanwhile, France's MBDA is not expected to have a land-based version of the MdCN ready before 2028. MBDA is currently developing the land-based version, known as SCALP-EG or Missile de Croisière Terrestre (MdCT), as part of the SCORPION program to strengthen the deep strike capability of the French army. The project is expected to enter serial production around 2027, with official details to be released after successful development and testing.

The RK-360L missile is a significant addition to Ukraine's military capabilities, providing a long-range strike option. Meanwhile, France's land-based MdCN variant is still in development, with an expected introduction around 2027 or 2028. Both countries continue to advance their missile technologies, with Ukraine's recent developments showcasing its ability to produce advanced weaponry during conflict.
