The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Belarus have bolstered their economic ties substantially, with investments from the UAE in Belarus surpassing $4 billion across critical sectors such as defense, technology, hospitality, and urban development. This strategic partnership was underscored during the unveiling of the Minsk International Exhibition Centre.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, emphasized the UAE's role as one of Belarus' top three investors and highlighted the evolving relationship as a substantial leap in bilateral cooperation. He noted the growing Emirati interest in Belarus's food and industrial sectors, attributed to the Eastern European nation's robust production capabilities and skilled workforce.

In a significant development, Dr. Al Zeyoudi announced the completion of negotiations for a free trade agreement on goods with the Eurasian Economic Union, with the signing anticipated in the near future. In parallel, a bilateral agreement on services and investments is approaching finalization, currently undergoing legal review.

Stressing the importance of this partnership, Al Zeyoudi advocated for increased institutional and sectoral collaboration, including the establishment of business delegations, councils, and a new session of the joint economic committee scheduled later this year.

The Minsk International Exhibition Centre, built with Emirati investment, signifies the initial phase of the Northern Waterfront project – a visionary smart economic city designed to boost tourism and technological investment.
