U.S. Bound: BMW's Electrified iX3 Offers an Impressive 400-Mile Driving Distance
BMW's New Electric SUV, the iX3, Heads to America in 2026
BMW has announced that its all-new electric SUV, the iX3, will be making its way to the American market in 2026. The iX3 is set to compete with the Tesla Model Y and Mercedes GLC with EQ Technology.
The iX3 will be available in multiple variants, including a flagship 50 xDrive model featuring two motors and all-wheel drive, and a base version with a single motor and rear-wheel drive. The base model may offer a more affordable option, but it's not confirmed if this version will be available in the U.S. market.
The iX3 50 xDrive offers an estimated range of approximately 400 miles on the EPA cycle, and with access to a 400-kW charging station, 10 minutes of charging for the 108-kWh battery pack can add around 175 miles of range. This model also boasts 800-volt charging for faster charging times.
BMW expects Europe and the U.S. to lead sales, while China, its largest market, will receive a special long-wheelbase version. However, no information about the production or specifications of the long-wheelbase version for the U.S. market has been provided.
Customer deliveries for the iX3 in America are scheduled to start in the middle of next year. It's worth noting that U.S.-bound vehicles will continue to come from Hungary, while starting in 2027, the iX3 will also be produced in Mexico at the San Luis Potosi facility.
European and U.S. models of the BMW iX3 will be built at the new plant in Debrecen. It's expected that U.S. models will offer more standard features than European models, as cars sold in North America are typically better equipped.
The starting price for the iX3 is $60,000, but this applies to a no-option configuration. No new information about the pricing structure for the iX3 in the U.S. market has been provided.
For those interested in the full technical specifications and further details about the iX3, they can be found in a separate post. BMW mentions an entry-level version of the iX3, suggesting a lower starting price, but no specific details have been shared regarding this version in the U.S. market.
Stay tuned for more updates on the BMW iX3 as it makes its way to America in 2026.
