Toyota NZ Bids Farewell to GR Supra with Track Edition, Expands Racing Commitment
Toyota New Zealand is set to bid farewell to the GR Supra with the Track Edition, the final models available. Meanwhile, the GR brand's popularity has surged, with around 100 GR Supras sold since 2019. Toyota will also expand its racing presence with the Gen3 GR Supra in the Repco Supercars Championship and the GT4 category.
The GR Supra Track Edition, priced at $109,990, boasts enhanced performance features such as modified suspension, extra bracing, and a larger front brake package. It also sports a distinctive look with front wheelarch aero flaps, upgraded front tyre spats, a carbon fibre ducktail spoiler, and 19-inch matte black alloy wheels. The engine remains the same powerful 3.0-litre BMW-sourced straight-6, producing 285kW/500Nm.
Toyota will field a minimum of 4 Gen3 GR Supras in the Repco Supercars Championship, with potential rounds in New Zealand next year. The GR Supra GT4 Evo will also compete in the GT4 category starting summer 2025, with the Evo2 variant debuting in the 2025 Michelin Pilot Challenge at Daytona. Toyota's racing commitment extends to 2026, with a V8 variant of the GR Supra set to enter the Australian Supercars Championship.
Toyota New Zealand will take six orders for the GR Supra Track Edition, marking the end of global production for the model. Despite its discontinuation, the GR Supra's legacy continues, with Toyota's racing efforts set to expand in the coming years.
