Time-Traveling Companion: Fiat Grande Panda Hybrid Embraces cutting-edge Technology

So who said nostalgia wasn't cool? Fiat's bringing it back, baby! After reviving the iconic Panda from the '80s as an electrified compact SUV, they're now taking it to the hybrid market. If Doc Brown's DeLorean could travel through time, it might look something like this.

The urban jungle was never this stylish! Today, the Panda's practical, geometric design is transformed into a gadget-like marvel. A hint of nostalgia comes from embossed door letters on the 4x4 all-wheel drive, and a rear hatch adorned with the Fiat logo—a hat-tip to the original Panda.

Inside, retro charm meets modern innovation. The dashboard sports a 10-inch display behind the steering wheel and a centrally placed 10.25-inch monitor, conjuring up memories of the Lingotto test track. The fancy top-of-the-line La Prima variant boasts a unique bamboo-look dashboard, harking back to the historic Panda cockpit.

Fiat's One-Size-Fits-All Panda

The much-awaited hybrid version of the Grande Panda is here! Fiat's showcasing their prowess in technological advancements with this baby. Fueling the ride is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, producing 74 kW/101 PS. This is combined with a mild-hybrid system offering an additional 21 kW/28.6 PS from an electric motor and powered by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery.

The innovative electric-meets-gasoline hybrid system cooperates seamlessly with the eDCT transmission specially developed for electric vehicles and is the perfect blend of heritage and the present. Joining its electric sibling soon, other versions like a pure gasoline model with a manual transmission will also be available. Furthermore, the beloved 4x4 variant might even make a comeback!

The Grande Panda Hybrid, like its electric counterpart, is based on the versatile Stellantis platform "Smart-Car." With plans to produce up to 300,000 vehicles annually at three locations worldwide, Fiat's gunning for a 21st-century remake of the Panda's impressive 4-million-unit history.

The Cutting-Edge Panda's Pricing

With prices starting at an affordable €18,990 for the Pop variant, the Grande Panda Hybrid is accessible for all. Our test car rings in at around €23,500 and is fully equipped with automatic climate control, rearview camera, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, 17-inch wheels, and LED front and rear lights.

Driving the Panda Grande Hybrid is an experience, with impressive side support for the seats, comfortable seating, and a pleasantly responsive steering wheel. The ride is agile, with refined suspension handling both city streets and brutal weather, taking rain-soaked adventure to a whole new level.

Despite its compact dimensions, the Grande Panda offers ample space, with a generous 2.54-meter wheelbase providing plenty of space for passengers and a boot volume of 412 liters that expands to up to 1,366 liters with the rear seats folded down. It's more than enough room for your daily trips and family escapades!

The Fiat Grande Panda Hybrid stirs positive emotions and boasts a smart fusion of retro aesthetics and contemporary compact SUV features. It might well be the new bestseller, turning heads as you hit the streets in your time machine!
