The European Commission introduces a fresh initiative to boost the implementation of AI technology within various industries.

New Master's Program at FOM University Focuses on Data-Driven Optimization

FOM University has launched a new master's program that aims to optimize value creation processes through advanced data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI). This innovative program is a collaboration with RWTH Aachen University and TH Cologne, combining their strengths in applied data science, AI, and process optimization.

The focus of this master's program is on process optimization and value creation in businesses, achieved through the application of data analysis and AI methods. The objective is to develop practical skills for improving industrial and service value chains, driven by digital transformation and AI.

The academic structure of the program is likely to involve interdisciplinary coursework bridging AI, data analytics, industrial engineering, and business process management. Students will define and perform targeted data analyses, test AI technologies directly in real production scenarios, and deepen their understanding of industrial data sources and the associated data management.

The program is offered in the Campus-Studium+ format at FOM university centers in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Munich, and Stuttgart. Three modules have been developed for the engineering department at FOM, and they will be held at the locations of the two universities. The practical modules integrate real industrial processes into teaching, creating an intensive connection between theory and application.

Notable contributors to the program include Claudia Burger, a journalist in the Economy and Management department of VDI nachrichten, Marcel Walkowiak, professor at TH Cologne, and Anas Abdelrazeq, senior engineer at the WZL of RWTH Aachen. The laboratories and model factory at TH Cologne's Gummersbach campus offer an ideal environment for data-driven thinking.

The new master's program is a part-time study program aimed at experienced specialists and managers from the industrial sector. It starts in September and is open to women for the mechanical engineering study program.

For those interested in detailed curricular content or application specifics, contacting FOM, RWTH Aachen, or TH Cologne directly or reviewing their official program announcements would be advisable. The program aligns with regional innovation initiatives such as the “Gateway Factory” deep tech collaboration involving RWTH Aachen and universities in Cologne, emphasizing the translation of technological advancements into practical applications in industry.

The technology of artificial intelligence is integral to the advanced data analysis and AI methods used in the new master's program at FOM University, which focuses on optimizing value creation processes. This program aims to develop practical skills for improving industrial and service value chains by testing AI technologies directly in real-world production scenarios.
