The beta phase for Battlefield 6 commences on August 7, welcoming 40,000 enthusiastic players.
Battlefield 6's highly-anticipated Open Beta is set to commence, offering players an early sneak peek of the game's action-packed multiplayer experience. The beta, scheduled for two weekends in August 2025, is accessible to those who signed up for the Battlefield Labs playtest, even without a direct invite.
The Open Beta will run across two weekends: August 9-10 (with early access from August 7-8), and August 14-17. Participants can join the battle on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC (via Steam, EA app, and Epic Games Store).
Players can look forward to a variety of game modes, including large-scale 64-player Conquest and Breakthrough modes, the infantry-only Empire State map set in Brooklyn, the tank- and infantry-heavy Siege of Cairo, Iberian Offensive, the Liberation Peak map, Squad Deathmatch, and the smaller 24-player (12v12) Rush mode.
To ensure a smooth gaming experience, Battlefield 6 will introduce closed weapons and the classic Rush mode where attackers plant explosives on objectives.
For PC players, minimum and recommended system requirements have been outlined to support good FPS performance. The recommended specs include an Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, for 60 FPS at 1440p on high settings.
To combat cheating, Battlefield 6 utilises EA's Javelin anti-cheat system. During the beta, Javelin blocked over 330,000 cheating attempts, demonstrating its effectiveness. Javelin aims to detect cheats without compromising player privacy and ensures the game environment is secure by preventing hacking, spamming, phishing, and malware.
Secure Boot is a requirement for the Javelin anti-cheat system because it prevents the machine from running with vulnerable or unauthorized drivers, enhancing the system's effectiveness.
Matchmaking priorities in Battlefield 6 are ping, player location, server availability, and skill factor (in that order). Skill-based matchmaking is present but given the lowest priority to maintain a spread of skill within large multiplayer matches, ensuring balanced and dynamic gameplay rather than strictly matched skill levels. After matches, lobbies disband often due to the matchmaking focusing more on connection quality than strict skill grouping.
Battlefield 6 aims to bring the series into a new era with upgraded anti-cheat, improved matchmaking systems, and large-scale gameplay. Preorders for the full game are now live on Steam for $69.99, ahead of its October 10 release date. The beta has already been overwhelming servers before its launch, promising an exciting start to the new Battlefield adventure.
Technology and gadgets are integral parts of Battlefield 6, with the game introducing closed weapons and smaller 24-player (14v10) Rush mode, offering a taste of its large-scale multiplayer action. To combat cheating, Battlefield 6 utilizes EA's Javelin anti-cheat system, which has demonstrated its effectiveness by blocking over 330,000 cheating attempts during the beta alone. This system requires Secure Boot for enhanced effectiveness, ensuring a fair, secure, and dynamic gaming experience.
