Tesla Extends Free Supercharging to New Model 3 Owners in the US

Tesla has announced that new Model 3 owners in the United States will receive free lifetime Supercharging as of 2025. This move follows a similar incentive offered to Model S and Model X owners in the past.

The offer applies to new Model 3 vehicles purchased in 2025, allowing owners to use Tesla's Supercharger network at no cost for the lifetime of the vehicle. According to Tesla's North America account, this benefit will also work while road-tripping in the US.

This strategic move by Tesla is aimed at boosting sales amid competition and economic challenges. In recent years, Tesla has expanded its Supercharger network significantly, with almost 130 sites in recent years and over 70,000 stalls globally.

Riz Akhtar, the founder of carloop, a company specializing in Australian EV data, insight reports, and trends, shared his thoughts on the matter. Akhtar, based in Melbourne, is a mechanical engineer who spent the first 7 years of his career building transport infrastructure before starting carloop. He expressed his passion for cars, particularly EVs, and his desire to help reduce transport emissions in Australia.

In addition to the free Supercharging offer, there are other incentives for new Model Y purchasers in the Australian market. A $3,000 lending incentive and a $3,000 novated lease incentive are currently available. Furthermore, the trade-in incentive is still available, offering an additional $2,000 off the price when trading in a used vehicle, until 30 September 2025.

Existing owners of Tesla EVs with enhanced autopilot or full-self-driving (FSD) software can transfer it to a new or demo Tesla until the end of September.

It's worth noting that the free Supercharging offer is typically non-transferable if the vehicle is sold. However, this offer reintroduces the free lifetime Supercharging perk, which was previously limited to Model S and Model X, now extended to new Model 3 buyers.
