The electric vehicle (EV) landscape in Ontario just got a significant boost with the opening of two new Tesla Supercharger stations in Severn. Located on Highway 11, these stations are designed to serve traffic traveling along this route, overcoming the challenge posed by the highway's divided lanes.

Tesla's innovative prefabricated installation process accelerated the construction of these stations, with components pre-assembled at Giga New York before being shipped to the site. The result is two identical 8-stall V4 Supercharger stations, one northbound and one southbound, providing a total of 16 stalls.

The northbound station is conveniently located at Webers Northbound parking lot for travelers heading towards Muskoka and northern Ontario. On the other hand, the southbound station is situated in the southbound parking lot for those traveling towards Barrie or further south. A pedestrian overpass connects the two sites, offering drivers the convenience of accessing amenities such as Webers’ burger stand while charging their vehicles.

Charging fees for Tesla owners at these Severn stations are $0.48 per kWh, while non-Tesla owners will pay $0.68/kWh. The final step in the construction process, utility connection and energization, was carried out over the weekend, marking the official completion and energization of the stations.

Local reports suggest that Tesla had planned for two identical 8-stall installations from the start, speculating that a second station would follow due to Highway 11's divided lanes. Construction of the northbound site began in late 2024, and now, both stations are operational and ready for use by EV drivers.

With these new Supercharger stations, Tesla continues to expand its network, making long-distance EV travel more accessible and convenient for drivers in Ontario and beyond.
