Telegram Unveils Mini-App Store with Web3 Support for 900M Users
Telegram, the popular messaging app with 900 million users, has unveiled a significant update. It has introduced a mini-app store with built-in support for web3 technology, a move that could familiarize hundreds of millions of users with blockchain by 2024.
The mini-app store will process payments through a network of 20 different payment providers. These include commonly supported methods like Visa, MasterCard, Skrill, Neteller, PaySafeCard, Trustly, Sofort, GiroPay, and various cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin. ApplePay and Google Pay are also expected to be supported.
Telegram is enhancing security measures to combat fraudulent activities targeting newcomers to the cryptocurrency space. It will display the month of registration and principal country for public accounts, helping to reduce scams. Additionally, users can send TON, the cryptocurrency of the blockchain project Toncoin (TON), within the app without needing long wallet addresses.
The mini-app store is integrated with web3 pages, which will be supported by Telegram's in-app browser. Organizations can also issue labels for channels through their mini-apps, adding a layer of authenticity.
Telegram's mini-app store with web3 support is a significant advancement for the company. It not only provides a new platform for transactions but also enhances security measures and promotes blockchain technology to its vast user base.
