In a significant move that strengthens ties between Telegram and Kazakhstan's leading technology park, Telegram Inc. has officially become a resident of Astana Hub. Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, visited Kazakhstan in June 2024 at the invitation of Minister of Digital Development Jasslan Madiev.

During his visit, Durov familiarised himself with Astana Hub's activities, infrastructure, and IT company support programmes. This visit culminated in the opening of a Telegram office within the Astana Hub cluster.

Telegram, an independent tech platform known for its commitment to digital security and focus on speed, scalability, stability, and data protection, is one of the most downloaded apps worldwide, with over a billion active users monthly. The app is also renowned for its launch of Telegram Stars, an internal currency convertible to Toncoin, in 2024.

The collaboration between Telegram and Astana Hub is expected to contribute to the growth and development of both parties. Key solutions offered by Telegram, such as Mini Apps, which attract over 500 million users monthly, will find a fertile ground in Astana Hub's vibrant tech ecosystem.

By being resident at Astana Hub, Telegram gains direct access to a variety of resources, including startups, research initiatives, and cutting-edge projects. One such project is Kazakhstan’s newly launched supercomputer, which bolsters advanced AI capabilities, data analytics, and smart city technologies. This collaboration presents opportunities for Telegram to enhance its AI and infrastructure capabilities.

For Kazakhstan, hosting a global tech giant like Telegram elevates its status as a regional AI and digital innovation hub, attracting international attention and encouraging further tech investments and collaborations. This partnership aligns with Kazakhstan’s efforts to foster an AI ecosystem regulated by upcoming AI laws and supported by initiatives such as the International AI Advisory Council.

The opening of the Telegram office in Astana Hub provides opportunities for collaborative projects and the expansion of digital products. This move is part of Kazakhstan's broader digital revolution and AI development strategy centred at Astana Hub, which hosts over 1,300 startups across 28 countries, fostering innovation and tech growth.

In summary, the residency of Telegram Inc. at Astana Hub facilitates joint opportunities in AI, smart infrastructure, and innovation development, benefiting Telegram through enhanced tech resources and Kazakhstan by advancing its national digital agenda and global technological integration.

  1. Pavel Durov, recognizing the advanced AI capabilities, data analytics, and smart city technologies offered by Kazakhstan’s supercomputer, which is part of Astana Hub's resources, sees potential for Telegram to enhance its AI and infrastructure capabilities.
  2. The collaboration between Telegram and Astana Hub, given Telegram's commitment to business solutions like Mini Apps that attract over 500 million users monthly, presents an opportunity for growth and development, as well as the expansion of digital products, particularly within the realm of finance and technology.
