Taiwan Urges Europe to Boost Investment, Citing Tech Role
Taiwan's Foreign Affairs Minister Lin Chia-lung has urged European nations to boost investment in Taiwan and welcomed Taiwanese companies into the European market. Speaking at a conference, Lin highlighted Taiwan's role in global supply chains and tech innovation, suggesting closer economic ties could benefit both regions.
Lin praised Taiwan's reliability in global supply chains and its position as a key player in the tech ecosystem. He proposed 'value-creation diplomacy' to foster economic growth and prosperity for both Taiwan and Europe. The minister called on European nations to invest more in Taiwan, with last year's investment reaching approximately US$1.3 billion. Lin also encouraged European businesses to further deepen their investment in Taiwan.
Lin warned about an 'axis of upheaval' formed by authoritarian regimes threatening the international order. He hoped Europe would adopt more pragmatic and forward-looking policies to welcome Taiwanese enterprises into the European market.
Lin Chia-lung's visit to Europe has emphasized the potential for stronger economic ties between Taiwan and Europe. With Taiwan's role in global tech and supply chains, and Europe's strategic reindustrialization goals, both regions stand to gain from increased investment and cooperation.
