Suzuki has officially announced the debut of its first fully electric vehicle in Australia within the upcoming year.
The Japanese automaker Suzuki is set to introduce its first fully electric vehicle, the e Vitara, in Australia during the first quarter of 2026. The UK pricing for the e Vitara offers a useful benchmark for its expected price range in Australia, although local prices typically vary due to taxes, dealer costs, and incentives.
In the UK, prices start at £29,999 (approximately AUD 63,000) for the base 49kWh 2WD Motion trim. The 61kWh battery versions are priced from £32,999 to £35,799 depending on trim level, and the 4WD Allgrip-e system starts at £34,999 to £37,799 for the Motion and Ultra trims respectively. However, it's important to note that direct UK-to-Australia currency conversions rarely reflect the final Australian pricing precisely.
According to commentary on Suzuki's forthcoming Australian electric SUV, the local prices for the e Vitara are expected to be substantially cheaper than the UK pricing, possibly due to local market positioning and incentives. This suggests the Australian price range might fall below the AUD 60,000 to 80,000 equivalent seen in the UK.
The e Vitara, when first announced, was said to measure 4,275mm in length, with an overall width of 1,800mm and a height of 1,635mm. The new Suzuki SUV will seat 5 and come in three variants. One variant is a two-wheel-drive with a 49kWh battery capacity, putting out 106kW from a front motor and maximum torque of 189Nm. The top-of-the-line model will have a 61kWh battery and four-wheel-drive, producing 135kW of power and having a maximum torque of 300Nm.
The e Vitara is designed for off-road capability and powerful performance, featuring an electric powertrain with a highly efficient eAxle, integrating both the motor and the inverter. Michael Pachota, general manager for the automotive division of Suzuki Australia, stated that the e Vitara is a bold step into the future of mobility.
The e Vitara will be powered by lithium iron-phosphate batteries and deliver an electric four-wheel-drive system. Final Australian pricing will be officially confirmed closer to the local launch, expected around 2026.
Based on UK pricing, the Suzuki e Vitara in Australia will likely start around the mid-to-high AUD 50,000s and possibly go up to the low AUD 70,000s for fully equipped models, reflecting a price point competitive with other compact electric SUVs in the market.
