Star Catcher's Satellite Power Revolution: Launch Date Still Under Wraps
Star Catcher, a startup aiming to revolutionize satellite power, has kept its cards close to its chest regarding the current status or launch date of its mission. No details on its development stage or planned tests have surfaced.
The company's journey began in March 2023 with an initial ground-based demonstration, following a $12.25 seed funding round. Since 2015, Astro Digital, a space systems and mission support provider, has been backing Star Catcher's ambitious project.
Star Catcher's goal is to empower ESPA-class satellites, like Astro Digital's Corvus XL, with additional power. This will be achieved by purchasing power from the Star Catcher Network and delivering it to satellites in orbit. To realize this vision, another terrestrial demonstration is planned for later this year, with an on-orbit test scheduled for 2026.
Founded in 2024 by Andrew Rush, Michael Snyder, and Bryan Lyandvert, Star Catcher is set to conduct further tests before its space-based energy grid becomes operational. Astro Digital, a key supporter, plans to purchase and distribute power from this future network.
