Before joining Sonatel, Mr. Brelotte BA served as Deputy Managing Director of Orange Middle East Africa since 2022, indicating senior executive experience within a major telecommunications company operating across a significant geographical region[2]. This role would have equipped him with strategic management skills and a comprehensive understanding of telecom operations across diverse markets, which is vital for leading Sonatel, a key player in the African telecom sector[2][3].
Mr. Brelotte BA's career in the telecom industry began as a graduate engineer from the Ecole Polytechnique de Paris and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He has held various positions within the Orange Group, including General Manager of Orange Bissau from 2008 to 2011, General Manager of Orange Mali from 2018 to 2022, and General Manager of Orange Guinea from 2017 to 2018[1][2][3]. He has also served as Director of Commercial Marketing and Communications for Orange Guinea from 2007 to 2008 and Management Controller of the Sonatel group from 2003 to 2007[1].
The appointment comes as Mr. Sékou Drame, the current CEO of Sonatel, is nearing the end of his mandate on July 31, 2025. The Sonatel Board of Directors has thanked Mr. Drame for his commitment and contributions to the company since 2018[1].
