Siemens Mobility Wins Major Freight Locomotive Deal in Turkey

Siemens Mobility has secured a significant order from Akdoğan Tren Kargo, a Turkish freight operator. This deal marks the second time a customer has opted for the Vectron-MS locomotive with the XLoad package, demonstrating its appeal.

Akdoğan Tren Kargo will receive five Vectron MS locomotives, equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) Baseline 3 and relevant national systems. This allows for seamless cross-border freight traffic in Europe and domestic operations in Turkey.

The XLoad package enhances the locomotives' traction capability, boosting their pulling power. This, coupled with the locomotives' design for speeds up to 200 km/h and compatibility with various rail power systems, makes them versatile and efficient.

The order also includes a ten-year full-service contract, with options for extension up to two years. Notably, Akdoğan Tren Kargo has the opportunity to purchase five additional Vectron MS locomotives as part of the deal.

Siemens Mobility's Vectron locomotives have proven popular worldwide, with over 2,800 sold to more than 100 customers. Currently, over 1,900 Vectron locomotives are in operation, covering over 1.2 billion fleet kilometers.

Akdoğan Tren Kargo's order for five Vectron MS locomotives, set for delivery by the end of 2027, underscores the growing demand for modern, efficient, and versatile freight locomotives. Siemens Mobility continues to lead in this sector, providing reliable and innovative solutions for the rail industry.
