Sci-fi sequel to Amazon's hit production resumes filming unexpectedly

A new chapter in the dystopian world of The Handmaid's Tale is on its way, with the production of The Testaments now underway in Canada[1][4][5]. This highly-anticipated sequel series, based on Margaret Atwood's 2019 novel of the same name, is set to be released on Hulu[1][3][5].

The series picks up 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, and features a cast of new and familiar characters. Among the latter is Aunt Lydia, played once again by Ann Dowd, who was spotted during filming in Dundas, Canada[9].

One of the main characters in The Testaments is Agnes Jemima, also known as June's daughter Hannah. However, it seems that Elisabeth Moss, who plays June Osborne, will not be reprising her role in the sequel[7].

The production of The Testaments suggests that the original series The Handmaid's Tale may not have ended as previously intended. Episode 10 of season 6 was intended to be the last episode, providing a definitive ending to the series. However, with the sequel in the works, it seems that more story remains to be told.

It is worth noting that the rights to The Testaments are likely to be handled by Disney+ in both the US and the UK[6][8]. In the UK, it may be available on Disney+ instead of Amazon Prime Video, where the original series was previously shown[10].

Disney+ is expected to become available in the UK and other regions in the coming months, and the integration of Hulu with Disney+ is expected to occur by the time of The Testaments release[2][3]. This integration will allow audiences around the world to access The Testaments, as well as the original series.

The Testaments is set to provide answers to questions left unanswered at the end of The Handmaid's Tale, and promises to be an exciting continuation of the dystopian saga. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated sequel.
