Introducing the Kamm 912T: A Modern Take on the Classic Porsche 912
The Restomod specialist Kamm has unveiled a new model, the 912T, which is set to redefine the daily-drivable, lightweight touring car experience. This restomod version of the classic Porsche 912 combines the timeless styling of the original with modern refinements, creating a featherweight, powerful, and comfortable restomod.
Key Features and Specifications
The 912T boasts a kerb weight of just 860 kg, making it 100 kg lighter than the original Porsche 912. This weight reduction is achieved through the extensive use of in-house manufactured carbon-fiber bodywork components, such as bumpers, wings, bonnet, and boot lid. Despite the carbon components, the 912T features metal doors and glass windows, enhancing comfort and refinement for longer journeys.
Under the hood, the 912T is powered by a reengineered 2.0-litre air-cooled four-cylinder "616" boxer engine developed by Kamm’s team. This engine produces 163 hp (121 kW) and 201 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque, with a redline lowered to 6,500 rpm to provide a more civilised, touring-friendly driving experience.
The exhaust system of the 912T has been tuned for quieter cruising, ensuring a relaxed sound profile. The five-speed dog-leg transmission has been recalibrated for smoother shifts oriented toward touring rather than racing, paired with a ZF limited-slip differential to enhance traction and control.
Beyond carbon fiber panels, the 912T includes subtle upgrades to chassis, brakes, suspension, wheels, and tyres. These upgrades improve comfort and performance for daily use, while maintaining the analogue feel and classic looks.
A Daily Driver with a Spirited Soul
The Kamm 912T emphasizes lightweight classic sports car purity combined with touring comfort and usability. It is a more comfortable and relaxed version of the purist Kamm 912C, aimed at those who desire a classic Porsche for both road and track use.
Buyers can choose between 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels or retro steel-look rims. The interior features a set of bespoke Smiths gauges and a Fusina Racing steering wheel, along with shapely sports seats by Fusina that offer extra padding for long-distance comfort.
The five-speed manual gearbox of the 912T has also been revised for smoother shifts. Available options include an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, along with wireless smartphone charging.
Production of the 912T will be in batches of five cars, with the first vehicles scheduled for build in early 2026. Prices for the Kamm 912T will start at €245,000 (approximately £214,000), excluding the cost of a donor car. Build slots can be reserved now with a deposit of €10,000 (£8,800).
