Arc'teryx Introduces the 2025 Beta AR Jacket: A Sustainable Upgrade to a Classic

Arc'teryx has unveiled the latest edition of its iconic Beta AR jacket, a significant upgrade that focuses on sustainability, weight reduction, and functional refinements. The 2025 Beta AR jacket is set to launch on July 31, 2023.

The key feature of the newest Beta AR is the PFAS-free GORE-TEX PRO ePE membrane, making it more sustainable. This next-generation, waterproof-breathable membrane eliminates harmful "forever chemicals" found in previous membranes, representing a crucial step forward in sustainability compared to prior versions that used traditional Gore-Tex fabrics with PFAS.

In terms of weight, the latest Beta AR weighs approximately 461 grams (1 lb 0.3 oz), significantly lighter than the original 2000 Beta AR model that weighed about 625 grams. The fabric is described as having "Most Rugged Technology," balancing durability with packability and breathability through a hybrid construction of N40d and N80d GORE-TEX PRO materials.

Functional refinements include an updated DropHood, internal collar, and embedded RECCO reflector. The DropHood is helmet-compatible and features durable internal cordlocks in the hood for adjustability. The StormHood, introduced in 2023, has been refined for improved articulation and waterproofing.

The 2025 Beta AR redefines the iconic jacket with advanced environmental sustainability, lighter weight without sacrificing durability, and refined design tweaks enhancing protection and comfort. Arc'teryx calls this the "best Beta so far," reflecting its balance of evolution and innovation in a longstanding technical shell.
