Restarted: NBA Africa Initiates Triple-Double Accelerator Program to Support African Sports-Tech Businesses
The NBA Africa Triple-Double Accelerator program has returned for its second edition, with a focus on supporting early-stage African startups building tech-enabled solutions in the sports and creative economy.
This year, the program is backed by ServiceNow, an enterprise AI platform, and will once again be managed by ALX Ventures, a pan-African incubator. The 10-week mentorship program aims to deepen NBA Africa's engagement with the continent's innovation economy.
The program is designed to help startups through product development, business growth, and go-to-market strategies. Mentors for the program include leaders from NBA Africa, ServiceNow, ALX, and other corporate partners.
Clare Akamanzi, CEO of NBA Africa, stated that last year's program demonstrated the talent, passion, and creativity among African entrepreneurs. The program received applications from over 700 startups, with Festival Coins, Salubata, HustleSasa, and UBR VR being the prize-winning startups.
The selected startups will join the mentorship program after the application window closes on Aug. 29. These startups will be headquartered in Africa, less than 2 years old, with proof-of-concept tech solutions addressing sports or creative sectors.
The program ends with a Demo Day in December, where the top five startups will receive financial support (up to $50,000) and ongoing mentorship to accelerate their growth. This year's Demo Day details will be announced later in the year.
ServiceNow's partnership provides AI-driven business tools to support the program's emphasis on leveraging AI and innovative technologies to transform the sports and creative industries. The goal is to accelerate the growth of ventures that contribute to Africa’s booming tech, sports, and creative ecosystems, nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation across the continent.
