Rail App Integrates Sharing Services for Final Leg of Journey

The DB Navigator app, a popular choice for commuters and travellers, is set to become an all-in-one solution for journeys from station to station and the last mile.

Starting soon, the app will feature a new tab called "Surroundings". This tab will allow users to rent E-scooters and bicycles from Deutsche Bahn's current partners Call-a-Bike for bicycles and Dott-Tier for E-scooters.

The app will display available bicycles and scooters in the immediate vicinity. Users can scan QR codes within the app to unlock rented bikes or scooters, making the process seamless and convenient.

However, it's important to note that the availability of last-mile solutions in the DB Navigator app may be limited due to the service areas of its partners. Deutsche Bahn is generally interested in expanding partnerships with sharing providers, though no specific companies or timelines have been announced yet.

In addition to last-mile solutions, the DB Navigator app will continue to provide a QR code scanner for unlocking rented bikes or scooters, and will also display public transport connections. Selecting a specific station in the "Public Transport" tab will provide an overview of both the next departures and arrivals.

It's worth mentioning that the DB Navigator app does not handle bike or scooter rentals directly; users must install the respective provider's app. This means that users can still enjoy the benefits of using multiple sharing services, all within the DB Navigator app.

The DB Navigator app will continue to be a valuable tool for commuters and travellers, making it easier than ever to navigate from station to station and the last mile. With its user-friendly design and expanding features, the DB Navigator app is set to remain a go-to choice for many.

No other bike or scooter providers are currently integrated into the DB Navigator app, but with Deutsche Bahn's interest in expanding partnerships, it's an exciting time for users looking for more integrated travel solutions. Stay tuned for potential future partnership announcements.
