PUBG creator is set to launch a new life simulation game on the PlayStation 5, with no plans for an Xbox release as of now.
The life simulation game inZOI, developed by Krafton using Unreal Engine 5, is creating a buzz among gamers. While the PS5 version of inZOI has been officially announced and is scheduled for release sometime in 2026, the Xbox version remains tentative and is currently "under consideration."
PS5 Version in Active Development
The PS5 port is in active development, with Krafton publicly committing to bringing the same robust features found on PC to the console. The focus is on full optimization for the console, including reworked controls and performance to ensure a smooth experience for players.
Xbox Version: Awaiting Confirmation
The status of the Xbox version is less clear. Krafton's communication suggests that the Xbox port is still being evaluated, with factors such as technical feasibility, partnership with Microsoft, and market considerations likely being addressed. This implies that the PS5 version may launch first as a possible timed exclusive or initial console release, but this is not explicitly confirmed.
A Successful Early Access Launch
In November 2024, inZOI launched in Early Access on Steam to positive reception. It is marketed as a modern rival to The Sims, with impressive AI-driven creative tools, deep customization, and high-fidelity visuals enabled by Unreal Engine 5. However, the game's PC ratings have softened due to missing social features and shallow gameplay depth at launch.
Ongoing Development and DLC
Despite being in Early Access, Krafton has been actively developing new content for the game. A free DLC titled Island Getaway is scheduled to release on August 20, 2025. The DLC introduces Cahaya, an island resort, to the game. A livestream showcasing the DLC is planned for August 15, 2025, at 1:00 a.m. UTC.
However, some fans are concerned that the development of new content is taking time away from fixing issues and adding "core features" still missing from the base game. The developers have not yet confirmed an Xbox release for the game, which has sparked debate among fans.
With nearly 1 million owners on Steam, inZOI has garnered a significant following. The game has received praise for its high-end visuals and realism, as well as its deep customization options. However, the core gameplay loop has been criticized for being shallow and lacking in deeper social interactions.
One controversial aspect of the game was the initial inclusion of a feature that allowed players to drive vehicles and run over NPCs, including children. This feature has since been removed.
InZOI was developed by Tango Gameworks, which was acquired by Krafton after parting ways with Xbox. The developers have not yet released a statement confirming an Xbox release for the game, echoing their previous statement regarding the PS5 release.
