Prepared for the 2024 season, Seattle Seahawks boost their team with advanced technological enhancements
Lumen Field Unveils Revolutionary Sound System for the 2024 NFL Season
Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, is set to elevate the fan experience with a groundbreaking sound system for the upcoming 2024 NFL season. This comprehensive upgrade, a collaboration between Diversified and d&b audiotechnik, promises to deliver crystal-clear audio and an immersive atmosphere for every spectator.
Diversified, a leading SCN Top 50 integrator, has customised and designed the system to cater to Lumen Field's unique architectural features. The U-shaped stadium layout and partially roofed structure have been carefully considered to ensure optimal coverage and clarity. The aim is to maintain high audio quality and intelligibility for all seating areas while minimising sound spill and reverberation.
At the heart of the sound system are d&b audiotechnik's premium loudspeakers and amplification devices, engineered for stadium environments. These modular speaker arrays can be flexibly deployed and fine-tuned to the venue's requirements.
The star of the show is d&b audiotechnik's proprietary ArrayProcessing technology. This sophisticated signal processing tool controls the directivity of the speaker arrays, ensuring even sound dispersion across different sections of the stadium. It minimises overlap and interference, adjusting the frequency response and phase alignment of the loudspeakers in real time to optimise sound coverage and reduce acoustic anomalies.
The installation process involved precise placement of loudspeaker arrays around Lumen Field, integration with stadium audio networks, and exhaustive testing to verify performance. The system was calibrated to balance the natural acoustics of the stadium with the technical capabilities of the new sound infrastructure.
The new system boasts nearly 500 loudspeakers, with SL-Series and XSLi-SUB as the leading models. An A/B demo conducted during the installation demonstrated the superiority of the new d&b audiotechnik sound system. The Seahawks management team expressed confidence that the new system will be positively received by fans.
The Fanovation Project, commemorating Lumen Field's 20th anniversary, includes new bowl lighting, LED elements, Amazon "Just Walk Out" stores, suite renovations, and refreshed premium lounges and club-level spaces. The upgrade aims to provide a modern fan experience, with the new sound system being a key element.
With the new sound system in place, Lumen Field can now go head-to-head in audio quality against any stadium built in recent years. The system's priority was to increase clarity and range for better intelligibility and even distribution throughout the stadium. It also compensates for weather conditions, adjusting for warm summers and cold, rainy winters.
The audio system is driven by 148 d&b audiotechnik amplifiers and features d&b audiotechnik KSL loudspeakers and XSLi-SUBs. Diversified and d&b audiotechnik worked hand-in-hand in designing and deploying the new sound system, including creating a custom user interface within the d&b R1 remote control software platform.
This massive technology upgrade at Lumen Field promises to deliver an unparalleled fan experience, reinforcing its reputation as one of the loudest and most exciting NFL stadiums.
The sound system installed at Lumen Field, for the 2024 NFL season, is a groundbreaking collaboration between Diversified and d&b audiotechnik, featuring d&b audiotechnik's proprietary ArrayProcessing technology and premium loudspeakers. Its custom design, considering Lumen Field's unique architectural features, aims to offer crystal-clear audio and an immersive atmosphere for sports events like American-football games, specifically football matches of the NFL. This technology upgrade is part of the Fanovation Project, commemorating Lumen Field's 20th anniversary, positioning the stadium to provide a modern fan experience that sets new standards in audio quality among sports venues built in recent years.
