Worten Announces Major Investment in New Logistics Platform
Worten, a leading electronics and home appliances retailer in Portugal and Spain, has unveiled plans for a significant investment in a new logistics platform called Worten Orders Park. The new centre, set to occupy 115,000 square metres, will revolutionise Worten's distribution network and customer experience.
Construction of the centre, which will be managed by Merlin Properties, commenced today and is expected to take two years to complete. Upon completion, all personnel and equipment will be transferred to the new centre.
The investment in Worten Orders Park is expected to be a key differentiator for the company. While no specific figures have been disclosed, the manager noted that there will be a significant investment in the new platform.
The new centre will employ 350 regular staff, with additional personnel during peak demand. It will also create various jobs, particularly in technology-related fields, to maintain the advanced systems that will be in place.
At the heart of Worten Orders Park will be an automated order sorter capable of handling up to 10,000 orders per hour. This cutting-edge technology, along with software systems integrating supply chain visibility, inventory management, and real-time order tracking, aims to facilitate faster delivery for customers.
Sustainability is also a priority for Worten. The platform will feature water reuse systems and a renewable solar structure to minimise the impact of logistics operations. Additionally, the company aims to optimise energy efficiency and reduce waste through various initiatives.
Pedro Chainho, Head of Supply Chain at Worten, highlighted that the new platform will offer a less monotonous logistics system. The goal is to allow customers to order as late as midnight and receive the item the next day.
The inauguration of Worten Orders Park is scheduled for 2028. For the latest and detailed information, Worten encourages the public to consult its official communications or news updates directly.
