Our organization is set to debut a versatile watercraft – initial trial underway
In a significant move for the safety of citizens in the Woerth district, a new multi-purpose boat has been officially handed over to the Woerth fire department on August 28, 2025. This state-of-the-art vessel, designed for a wide range of tasks, including rescue operations, combating oil spills, and flood situations, will be stationed at the Woerth fire department.
The initiative for the replacement acquisition of the multi-purpose boat was taken by then district fire chief, Wolfgang Scheuerer, in 2024. The deployment of the new boat significantly contributes to the protection of the population throughout the district, as stated by Scheuerer.
The new multi-purpose boat is capable of providing quick and reliable help in various emergency situations. It is intended for use on the Danube and its tributaries and will be utilised within the framework of the supra-regional task area according to the Bavarian Fire Protection Act.
State Councilor Tanja Schweiger attended the test drive of the new multi-purpose boat on August 31, 2025, and stated that the new boat is an important gain for the safety of citizens. The central tasks of the multi-purpose boat in fire and disaster protection include oil incidents, searches for missing persons, evacuations, and firefighting.
Replacement of such equipment is recommended every 30 years according to fire service guidelines. The previous multi-purpose boat, which was used for 29 years before being deemed outdated, would have continued operation been uneconomical due to the unavailability and high cost of spare parts.
The new multi-purpose boat was financed in part by funds from the Free State of Bavaria. This investment strengthens fire and disaster protection throughout the district, ensuring that the fire department is equipped with the necessary tools to respond effectively to emergencies.
The multi-purpose boat is a crucial main tool for the fire department, and its deployment will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the safety and well-being of the citizens of Woerth district.
