New Leadership at Modern Meadow: Appointment of New Chief Executive Officer for Sustainable Materials Company

Modern Meadow, a trailblazer in biofabricated materials, has announced a significant leadership change. David Williamson, who previously served as president and COO, has been promoted to the role of CEO, effective October 14.

Williamson brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Prior to joining Modern Meadow, he spent nearly 8 years at DuPont, holding various leadership roles, including chief of staff to the chief science and technology officer. His extensive background in material science, biotechnology, and production will undoubtedly prove invaluable in driving Modern Meadow's strategic growth.

The company's strategic growth plan focuses on expanding innovation in biofabricated materials, with an emphasis on performance, sustainability, and design. This approach is evident in Modern Meadow's partnership with Tory Burch to create the Ella Bio bag using Bio-Tex material, and its collaboration with Everlane on a tote bag, also made with Bio-Tex.

Modern Meadow produces two alternative leather materials: Bio-Tex and Bio-Vera. The company aims to commercialize its Bio-Vera material and increase manufacturing capacity to produce 500,000 square meters per year. In his new role, Williamson has emphasized the market readiness and cost-efficiency of Bio-Vera.

Catherine Roggero-Lovisi, the former CEO of Modern Meadow, has stepped down from her position but remains an advisor to the company. She played a crucial role in establishing Modern Meadow as a leader in the biofabricated materials industry. Roggero-Lovisi's departure coincides with Modern Meadow's efforts to refresh its brand messaging for Bio-Vera, as the company expands its presence in Europe and collaborates with partners.

In conclusion, Modern Meadow's promotion of David Williamson to CEO and its focus on expanding innovation in biofabricated materials signify a promising future for the company. With its commitment to performance, sustainability, and design, Modern Meadow is poised to make significant strides in the biofabricated materials industry.
