Neumann Monson Architects' Design for Kreg Tool Corporate Headquarters
A Combined Powerhouse: Kreg Tool's Headquarters Merges Office and Manufacturing
Step into the 155,000-square-foot kingdom of a leading pocket joinery tool manufacturer and find a unique amalgamation of office space and production facilities, meticulously crafted to foster a collaborative culture and sustainability. Nestled within a well-maintained 25-acre campus, this innovative headquarters provides a strategic foundation for the company's potential expansion, potentially doubling its size.
Navigate through the facility and witness the "Marketplace," a dynamic central hub that bridges the operational and administrative realms. Situated along the primary circulation paths, this vibrant hub enhances wayfinding and sparks casual encounters. A commanding central staircase, inspired by the company's core ethos, acts as a visual anchor and a meeting place for spontaneous gatherings and whole-company gatherings.
Employee well-being is a top priority, as exemplified by the design's emphasis on flexible collaboration zones, an abundance of natural light, panoramic vistas, a cutting-edge fitness center, a tranquil walking trail, and an open-air courtyard that invites outdoor breaks.
Structurally, the office incorporates a steel frame with laminated wood beams and roof decking. The north facade is fully glazed, admitting abundant daylight and captivating exterior vistas. The east and west facades showcase a black metal rainscreen system, interspersed with clerestory windows, offering controlled daylighting. In contrast, the manufacturing wing is encased in durable 14-by-40-inch precast concrete panels, while a towering glass curtain wall brings natural light into the manufacturing space. A photovoltaic array atop the warehouse roof reduces the facility's overall energy consumption.
The merging of architectural styles seamlessly connects the office and manufacturing zones, reflecting the collaborative company culture and honoring its Midwestern heritage with a resolute, purposeful design.
