My First Bitcoin Gets $1M Boost for Global Bitcoin Education
My First Watch, a nonprofit dedicated to Bitcoin education, has received a significant boost with a $1 million grant from Start Small. This funding will expand the organisation's reach and improve its educational tools, furthering its mission to provide free, open-source bitcoin education worldwide.
Founded in 2021 as a small local project, My First Watch has since grown into a global movement. It has taught tens of thousands of students in-person, refining its materials based on real-world feedback. The organisation's core values include independence, impartiality, community leadership, bitcoin-only focus, quality, and empowerment over profit.
The grant will help scale My First Watch's efforts by expanding its reach and improving tools like the bitcoin Diploma, Intro Course, and teacher training workshops. It will also strengthen the organisation's Online School and Community Hub, making bitcoin education more accessible. In 2022, My First Watch awarded bitcoin diplomas to 38 high school students in El Salvador, demonstrating its impact.
My First Watch's founder, John Dennehy, has stated that the organisation will not accept government money or funding with subtle influences. Instead, it has founded the Independent Bitcoin Educators Node Network (IBENN) in 2023, which now comprises over 65 projects in more than 35 countries.
With the $1 million grant from Start Small, My First Watch is poised to expand its global reach and enhance its educational offerings. This funding will support the organisation's commitment to providing free, open-source bitcoin education, empowering individuals worldwide with unbiased, high-quality information about the bitcoin price usd.
