Monthly Privacy Booster Program Introduced by COTI under DeCC Initiative

In a significant move towards enhancing privacy on blockchain, COTI has launched the Decentralized Confidential Computing (DeCC) initiative. This collaborative effort aims to advance privacy-enabling technologies on blockchain by merging trusted execution environments with decentralized networks.

The first DeCC event was held on Twitter Spaces on July 22, 2025, in partnership with Secret Network. The gathering marked the beginning of a monthly series of meetings aimed at fostering innovation in privacy solutions and the broader adoption of privacy-preserving protocols in Web3.

COTI's DeCC initiative is built on the foundation of its development of the Garbled Circuits protocol. This innovative technology allows for private computations on public blockchains, shielding sensitive data during processing without compromising decentralization or trust. This addresses the native transparency challenge of blockchain by protecting data in use, going beyond traditional privacy coins or zero-knowledge proofs that mainly safeguard transaction privacy.

The DeCC initiative seeks to unify the security of Confidential Computing, particularly through Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), with blockchain’s decentralized governance. TEEs securely process data according to verifiable rules set on-chain, ensuring data privacy and integrity in a trustless environment. This fosters a new paradigm where users regain ownership, control, and privacy of their data in decentralized ecosystems, paving the way for compliance with regulations like GDPR while retaining blockchain’s transparency for governance.

In addition to COTI, projects like Midnight Network and Ten Protocol are also participating in DeCC. Midnight Network uses zero-knowledge smart contracts to boost privacy, while Ten Protocol is developing a TEE for the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). COTI's CEO described public blockchains without privacy as inadequate for serious use cases and framed Privacy 2.0 not as a means to obscure information but as a tool for identity assurance, safety, and scalable compliance. Privacy 2.0 is focused on enabling secure, identity-conscious, and compliant privacy protocols.

As part of the DeCC initiative, COTI plans to continue hosting monthly sessions to promote interoperability and awareness in the privacy-focused segment of Web3.
