Mitsubishi Motors Europe Unveils First Fully Electric Compact SUV: The New Eclipse Cross

Mitsubishi Motors Europe has made a significant leap into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the unveiling of its first fully electric compact SUV, the New Eclipse Cross. This new model marks Mitsubishi's return to the European EV segment, specifically designed for European customers.

The New Eclipse Cross rides on the CMF-EV platform and will be powered by an electric motor that produces up to 160kW (215 hp) and 300Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The vehicle offers 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels and a full-size electrochromic glass roof with user-controlled opacity, adding to its sleek design.

At launch, the New Eclipse Cross will feature an 87kWh battery offering an estimated range of up to 600 km (WLTP). The cargo capacity of the SUV is a generous 478 litres behind the rear seats.

The New Eclipse Cross will be available in four trims: INFORM, INVITE, INTENSE, and INSTYLE. Each trim offers additional exterior personalisation accessories, allowing customers to tailor the vehicle to their preferences.

The vehicle's interface features a 12.3-inch portrait-format infotainment display and a matching 12.3-inch digital driver display, providing a modern and user-friendly experience. The cabin also includes LED ambient lighting with 48 configurable colours, adding a touch of personalisation to the interior.

Google built-in services such as Google Maps, Google Play, Google Assistant, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included, ensuring seamless connectivity and navigation. The New Eclipse Cross supports over-the-air updates and can be managed via the Mitsubishi Motors app.

The New Eclipse Cross will enter production in late 2025 at Renault Group's Douai plant in France. The top speed of the SUV is rated at 170 km/h, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.4 seconds. The vehicle also boasts two-tone colour options, adding visual appeal.

The New Eclipse Cross will form part of Mitsubishi's renewed European line-up, signalling the brand's commitment to the European market and the electric vehicle revolution. With its impressive specifications and stylish design, the New Eclipse Cross is set to make a strong impact in the competitive compact SUV market.
