McDonald's Bolsters EV Charging Stations Across 250 Locations in the UK

InstaVolt, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging network provider, has partnered with McDonald's to enhance the nation's EV charging infrastructure. This partnership, which commenced in June 2020, has seen a rapid expansion of InstaVolt charging points at McDonald's locations.

The collaboration is significant, with McDonald's focusing on delivering a great customer experience that caters to the needs of electric vehicle drivers. Mike Spencer, VP for development at McDonald's UK & Ireland, expressed pride in the partnership with InstaVolt.

The partnership has resulted in more than 500 ultra-rapid chargers becoming available, strategically located at McDonald's restaurants to reach communities across the UK and Ireland. These chargers are high-power units, capable of charging vehicles quickly, allowing EV drivers to get an average of an 80 percent charge in just 20 minutes.

Working with McDonald's has been a cornerstone of InstaVolt's strategy to deliver reliable and convenient nationwide EV infrastructure. The partnership has enabled electric car drivers to cover more than 120 million miles in the UK, with some 1.5 million electric car drivers having now used InstaVolt charging devices at a McDonald's.

McDonald's is committed to this partnership and plans to open 200 new restaurants over the next four years, with making charging points available, where possible, remaining a priority. The company is looking to grow its partnership with InstaVolt further.

The placement of chargers at McDonald's restaurants enables electric car drivers to visit for a coffee or a meal, making long-distance travel more practical. InstaVolt has targeted its partnership with McDonald's at restaurant locations that are typically 'off the grid' for EVs, ensuring that the network covers a wide geographical area.

The expansion of EV charging infrastructure, particularly through partnerships like this, supports the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions by encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. The environmental impact of these zero-emissions miles is equivalent to planting 750,000 trees and allowing them to grow for 10 years.

For the latest updates on the current expansion rate, it is advisable to consult the latest press releases or statements from InstaVolt or McDonald's, as these will provide the most current information on the partnership's progress. As of now, InstaVolt public chargers are available at 250 McDonald's restaurants across the UK and Ireland.
