The long-awaited construction of the Messina Strait Bridge, a monumental project aimed at linking mainland Italy with Sicily, is on the verge of commencement. According to Italy's Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, the start of construction is just weeks away.
The Italian Council of Ministers officially approved the design of the bridge on March 27, 2024.
