Abhishek Guha, a partner at SAM Equity, will be transitioning to Trilegal, accompanied by two more partners.

Abhishek Guha, a seasoned corporate lawyer with nearly two decades of experience, has left Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) after over 18 years and joined Trilegal. Guha is an alumnus of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata. During his tenure at SAM, he acted for several private and public companies, banks, financial institutions, and financial sponsors.

Joining Guha at Trilegal is Tanya Uppal, who brings over 12 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and capital markets. Uppal, who graduated from Amity University in 2011, had been with SAM for six years. Prior to her time at SAM, Uppal was associated with Trilegal.

Mahesh Wasadikar, with 15 years of experience in private equity investments, domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, commercial contracts, and corporate advisory, has also joined Trilegal. Wasadikar, a 2010 graduate of Rizvi Law College and a Solicitor associated with Bombay Incorporated Law Society, was previously a Partner at SAM for a year.

The reasons behind the trio's decision to resign from SAM and join Trilegal are not explicitly stated. However, their move is seen as a strategic one, contributing to Trilegal's growth and enhancing its corporate practice. Trilegal's statement suggests that the addition of these partners builds on the foundation of the firm, bringing significant deal-making experience and execution strength. This implies that their move aims to enhance the breadth and depth of Trilegal's practice in a competitive market.

The Trilegal partnership is currently in the process of voting to induct Guha, Uppal, and Wasadikar as partners. The arrival of these experienced lawyers is expected to further strengthen Trilegal's position in the market and reinforce its commitment to delivering efficient and effective services to clients.

Guha specializes in private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the pharmaceutical/healthcare, information technology, and banking & finance sectors. He advises Multinational Corporations (MNCs) on compliances with Indian foreign exchange, regulatory, and securities regulations.

Uppal has led numerous complex transactions and ensured compliance with regulatory requirements. She has been involved in several high-profile deals during her career.

Wasadikar's focus on private equity investments and M&A transactions was not previously mentioned. His addition to Trilegal is expected to bolster the firm's capabilities in these areas.

The arrivals of Guha, Uppal, and Wasadikar mark a significant milestone for Trilegal and underscore the firm's commitment to attracting top talent to its ranks. The trio's extensive experience and expertise are expected to play a crucial role in driving the firm's growth and success in the future.

  1. Abhishek Guha, with his expertise in private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the pharmaceutical/healthcare, information technology, and banking & finance sectors, will leverage technology to drive business growth and finance deals at Trilegal.
  2. Mahesh Wasadikar's addition to Trilegal, with his focus on private equity investments and M&A transactions, will boost the firm's technology-driven approach to executing complex business deals efficiently, further enhancing its market position.
