Expansion of Ultra-Fast Charging Points in Vienna: Smatrics EnBW and Zginc Collaborate

In a significant move towards promoting electromobility, Smatrics EnBW and Zginc have collaborated to establish a new charging park in Hadikgasse, Vienna 14. This is the first project from the cooperation between the three companies and marks a step forward in Vienna's charging infrastructure.

The charging park consists of six charging pillars, each with two charging points. These charging pillars are of the Alpitronic Hypercharger HYC400 type, which are already in use in Vienna. If both charging points are used simultaneously, the HYC400 can divide the available power in 50-kW steps.

The new charging park is publicly accessible around the clock and is designed to provide a service for Zginc customers as well as contribute to the energy transition. According to Zginc CEO, Michael Dockal, this is an important step in Zginc's charging infrastructure expansion program.

Smatrics EnBW's COO, Hauke Hinrichs, suggests that the company's ultra-fast charging points in Vienna will make an important contribution to the promotion of electromobility. Fast and ultra-fast charging points are seen as key to making electromobility practical for everyday use.

The kilowatt hour currently costs 0.65 euros at DC stations of Smatrics EnBW. This pricing, previously mentioned, aims to provide clear pricing transparency.

Smatrics EnBW's expansion in Vienna is part of the company's broader program to support e-mobility growth in the city. The company plans to add around 130 new high-speed charging points within the next two years following 2025, with over 100 already added in the first half of the year. The specific locations of these new charging points or parks within Vienna have not been detailed in the available sources.

Vienna already has over 2,800 AC charging points, but there is a need for catch-up in the area of public fast chargers. Hinrichs notes that the company has created over 30 ultra-fast charging points in Vienna outside the Zginc cooperation.

The maximum charging power of 400 kW is only possible if one of the two charging points is occupied. This means that the charging park, with its six charging pillars, can provide a total of 300 kW of power when both charging points on each pillar are in use.

Smatrics EnBW's ultra-fast charging points in Vienna, as stated by its COO, will not only be attractive for Zginc customers but also for the fast charging area in general. The company's expansion in Vienna is expected to significantly improve the city's charging infrastructure and contribute to the growth of electromobility.
