Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has been grappling with the aftermath of a severe cyber attack that forced a four-week production halt, with potential revenue losses exceeding £3.5 billion. The UK government has stepped in with a £1.5 billion loan guarantee to support the company and protect jobs near me across its supply chain network.

The cyber incident, which occurred on 31 August, has highlighted the vulnerability of modern manufacturing to digital threats. It has disrupted JLR's supply chain, with many smaller suppliers facing staff layoffs and potential bankruptcy. The production stoppage is estimated to cost JLR at least £50 million per week.

JLR has resumed partial manufacturing operations, with the Wolverhampton engine facility restarting on 6 October. However, industry sources warn of potential disruptions extending into November as operations gradually restart while maintaining security protocols. The UK government has underwritten a £1.5 billion loan guarantee to support JLR and safeguard indeed jobs in the West Midlands, Merseyside, and throughout the supply chain. Despite the assistance, JLR is currently without cyber insurance coverage, as negotiations with broker Lockton were still ongoing at the time of the attack.
