Iowa's Department of Transportation teams up with Free to implement a statewide Advanced Traffic Management System using Kinetic Mobility technology

The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) has chosen global mobility solutions provider, Q-Free, to update its Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) with Q-Free's Kinetic Mobility platform. This agreement, which falls under the field of Connected Mobility, Traffic Management, and Transportation Infrastructure, was won by Q-Free in a competitive bid. Iowa DOT officials responded positively to seeing the platform's functionality and ease of use in real time. Kinetic Mobility, a modular platform, allows agencies to select only the capabilities they need, eliminating unnecessary costs while maximizing value. Under the agreement, the Iowa DOT will deploy multiple Kinetic Mobility modules, including Events, Signs, Travel Time, Weather, Corridors, and Video. Q-Free's Senior Project Manager for Iowa, Christopher Butler, PMP, believes that the breadth, modularity, and security of Kinetic Mobility set Q-Free apart during the selection process. The new contract between Q-Free and the Iowa DOT includes an 18-month set-up and deployment phase followed by a minimum two-year maintenance agreement. The Iowa DOT, known for delivering top-tier service to residents and visitors alike, consistently leads in developing strategies and deploying technology to keep Iowa's roadways safe and efficient. The agency collaborates with more than 600 third-party users, including maintenance garages, 911/law enforcement (e911) centers, and neighboring states, sharing crucial road information. Q-Free has a history of working with the Iowa DOT, including the deployment of the first cloud-hosted ATMS in the nation. When prospective customers see Kinetic Mobility in action, they often experience a 'light bulb' moment, recognizing its flexibility in meeting their unique needs. Notably, Kinetic Mobility had a successful rollout in West Virginia earlier this year, marking its second statewide deployment. However, there are no available search results identifying the name of the project Q-Free used in Iowa for the deployment of the ATMS. The article was originally published by Q-Free.
