Instructions for Obtaining Frontier Miles
Frontier Airlines has unveiled a range of benefits for its elite members, offering a more comfortable and cost-effective flying experience. The airline's Elite Platinum status, which can be achieved by earning 50,000 Elite Status Points within a calendar year, comes with a host of advantages.
One of the most notable perks for Elite Platinum members is the unlimited companion travel benefit. This feature allows members to add a companion who flies for free on all Frontier flights (except those booked through the GoWild pass or award tickets), paying only government taxes and fees starting at $5.60 each way. The companion must have a Frontier Miles account, and the booking of the companion is done at the time of reservation; the companion cannot be added later.
Elite Platinum members also enjoy free carry-on and checked bags, free seat assignments and upgrades, early boarding (Zone 1), and the ability to pool miles with family members.
The companion does not earn miles for the trip, and the companion's name must be different from the primary flyer. It is essential to note that this companion benefit is more flexible than competitor programs, as you do not need to designate the same companion repeatedly, and you can use it as often as you want while maintaining Elite Platinum status.
Starting with Silver status, passengers can change or cancel a flight at least seven days before departure without a fee. Elite Gold members can enjoy additional seat selection options, with the ability to select a standard seat at booking, preferred seat at check-in, premium seat at check-in, and UpFront Plus four hours before departure for members only.
Changes made between 59 and seven days before departure incur a $49 fee, and changes made six days or less prior to departure incur a $99 change fee. Elite Silver members can select a standard seat at booking, and preferred seat at check-in for members only.
The fee for a carry-on bag can be as low as $29 if paid while booking the flight, and as high as $99 if paid at the gate. The fee for a first checked bag can be as little as $34 and as high as $99.
Frontier Airlines is also planning to add first class seats to cabins sometime in late 2025. The annual GoWild! pass, which costs $699 or $149 monthly with occasional discounts, allows unlimited flights but with flight confirmations only available the day before a domestic departure or 10 days before an international trip. Blackout dates apply to the GoWild! pass, and bags or seats still cost extra unless you have elite status.
