Curious about how one becomes a pioneer in the world of VR pinball? Look no further. Born and bred in the television and audiovisual realm, Alexandre spent 25 years honing his craft. However, it wasn't until he was asked to record a 360-degree concert that he first dipped his toes in the water of virtual reality. Inspired by the limitless potential he saw before him, Alexandre started a new content production company and soon made a name for himself in the industry, making immersive films for platforms like ARTE 360, Facebook, and Google. Alas, the 360 video fad eventually fizzled out, leaving Alexandre with asimple question: what's next?
A Passion Project Gains Traction
Enter FlipperVR. The brainchild of Alexandre and a few like-minded friends, the idea came about during a conversation at the Paris Air Show in 2019. Reunited with friends from a Tarbes-based virtual reality agency, Otidea, the group reminisced about their childhood memories, eventually landing on the iconic game of pinball. With the nostalgia invigorating their creative spark, they decided to breathe new life into pinball by incorporating VR technology. Within six months, their first prototype was unveiled at a trade show in Paris. As fate would have it, the pandemic hit, halting progress in its tracks. But as any true pioneer knows, adversity only serves to fuel determination, and the FlipperVR team rose to the challenge, ultimately bringing their digital pinball machine to market in 2023.

So, what does pinball look like in virtual reality? Think of a traditional pinball machine – same aesthetics, just with a screen replacing the mechanical parts – and you're on the right track.
