Introducing the Ikegami UHL-X40: A Compact and Versatile 4K-UHD HDR Camera

The Ikegami UHL-X40 is a groundbreaking 4K-UHD HDR broadcast camera, designed to offer exceptional performance in a compact and lightweight form factor.

At the heart of the UHL-X40 lies three high-quality ⅔-inch CMOS UHD sensors with a global shutter architecture. This innovative design minimizes geometric distortion and artifacts, making it ideal for LED screen shooting and strobe-lit environments. The camera boasts an impressive F11 sensitivity at 2160p50, a signal-to-noise ratio of 62 dB, and supports HDR (ITU-R BT.2100) and BT.2020 color reproduction as standard.

The UHL-X40 features the industry-standard B4 lens mount and includes dual optical filter wheels for neutral density and color correction, optical vignetting correction, and remote back focus. Precise focus-assist is achieved by placing the edge components of the 4K image on a separate HD monitor.

The camera's control unit is compact and lightweight (2.6 kg), making it easy to handle and transport. It supports control signals like pan/tilt/zoom and teleprompter feeds via a Gigabit Ethernet trunk. The UHL-X40 can output full 4K UHD plus simultaneous HD downconversion, including a native 1080p central cutout, for flexible production workflows.

Compared to the Ikegami UHL-F4000, the UHL-X40 is a more compact and lightweight alternative, with similar core image quality features, including HDR and wide color gamut support. The UHL-X40 aims to deliver comparable image performance with the advantage of an ultra-compact form factor and enhanced handling, making it ideal for multi-camera setups, OB vans, and live event production where space and weight are at a premium.

The UHL-X40 will make its debut at the IBC in Amsterdam RAI Centre from Sept. 12-15. For more information about the UHL-X40, visit www.ikegami.de.
