Hyundai Unveils the Creta Electric at Auto Expo 2025
Hyundai has made a significant move in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of the Creta Electric at the Auto Expo 2025. This electrified version of the company's best-selling model promises to challenge the established EV crossover SUVs in the Indian market.
The Creta Electric boasts a unique design, starting from its closed-off grille with a pixel design, and moving to its floating centre console and Morse Code 'H' on the steering wheel, instead of the traditional Hyundai logo. The vehicle also features the N Line body kit, giving it a sporty appearance.
The interior of the Creta Electric is equally impressive, with two 10.25-inch screens, connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), ventilated seats, chauffeur mode, and tray tables for rear passengers. The infotainment system and virtual instrument cluster display EV-specific graphics, adding to the overall user experience.
The Creta Electric is available in four trims: Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence. The top two trims are priced at ₹20 lakh and ₹23.50 lakh (all ex-showroom price, Delhi). The Smart trim is further divided into Smart and Smart (O) with prices of ₹18.99 lakh, ₹19.49 lakh, and ₹21.50 lakh (all ex-showroom price, Delhi).
Hyundai has paid special attention to the safety features of the Creta Electric. The vehicle comes with a more robust structure, six airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts with reminders, stability control, and more.
The Creta Electric offers two battery pack options: a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh. Both battery packs support 50 kW DC fast charging and take 58 minutes to charge from 10-80% with this method. With an 11 kW AC charger, the smaller battery pack takes 4 hours to charge, while the larger one takes 4 hours and 50 minutes.
The smaller battery pack produces 133 bhp and delivers an impressive torque figure of 255 Nm. The larger battery pack increases the power output to 169 bhp, but the torque remains the same. The Creta Electric offers a claimed range of 390 km with the smaller battery pack and 473 km with the larger one (claimed).
The Creta Electric competes with the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV, and the recently showcased Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Hyundai also offers the Ioniq 5 as an electric crossover SUV competitor in German showrooms as of 2024.
The Creta Electric's 17-inch alloy wheels have a different design, adding to the vehicle's distinctive look. The vehicle is available in 10 colours, including two dual-tone and three matte colours.
With the launch of the Creta Electric, Hyundai continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. The Creta Electric is set to hit Indian showrooms soon, promising to redefine the electric SUV segment in the country.
